Could the tide be turning? Trans-gender-critical voices make the New York Times

Finally a bit of balance in the mainstream press. Mark Angelo Cummings AND Dr. Margaret Moon are pushing back on the early transition meme, in the New York Times no less. So far, reader comments are running strongly in solidarity with those of us who criticize child and teen transition–on all four opinion pieces (Dr. Norman Spack and Skylar Kergil are arguing for early transition).

Nearly all the commenters are saying basically the same thing: We all changed our minds about big things when we were young. We thought we knew. We didn’t. A child deciding to be the opposite sex should be seen no differently. Kids and adolescents should not be making permanent, body-and-mind altering decisions.

  1. early transitioning should NEVER be allowed. i was victimized, abused, and tortured by doctors as a child and the damage may have been permanent. “medical care” as it is today is utterly horrific and pumping children full of harsh drugs is in no way love, care, or support. also, it says a whole hell of a lot about the trans’ priorities if the only way their identities rely on EVERYONE being in on it, or else they don’t exist…like anyone else has that problem.

  2. I hope they are against surgery, but they re only against transition for young… even if mark regrets it (or am I wrong?)

  3. My thought is this: if one has to be of a certain age to undergo purely cosmetic operations, then it follows that one should be of ‘legal consent’ age to undergo transitional surgery, at the very least…and then, that individual should have undergone what is necessary to legally emancipate themselves, beforehand.

Unfortunately, many surgeons / physicians are only in ‘medical care’ for the money…this is why we see ‘medical industry’ used as a term – it isn’t, and hasn’t been, “caring” for anyone for over two decades…period.
