Let’s Play Gender Clinic: Announcing a new line of children’s books for glitter families!

combo blue revised

Which box will fit your child best, the pink box or the blue box? We’re delighted to offer you a preview of these wonderful children’s books, produced by everyone’s favourite gender expert, Lily Maynard.

In her selfless quest to make money–I mean, reach out and help children everywhere choose the right gender identity for themselves–Lily has produced an exciting new range of quickly churned out… I mean carefully compiled… books for the contemporary glitter family.

By leaving these books casually strewn around your bathroom or living room, you can be sure your visitors will see how totally progressive and reactionary your gender politics are, and how well you understand the rigid borders that define what is acceptable behaviour for boys, and what is acceptable behaviour for girls. After all, you don’t want to be called transphobic, do you? Or even worse, a TERF? With these books on your bookcase, your liberal credentials will sparkle for all the world to see.  You’ll be a beacon of hope for all those gender-affirming glitter families out there!

Maybe your child is questioning their gender identity?  Maybe your child has a friend who is questioning their gender identity? Maybe your child hasn’t thought about gender identity at all?  If not, why not? And what can you do to change that? Aren’t you going to listen to your child: don’t you want them to become their authentic self? Surely you don’t want to risk your child turning out gay when there a chance they might simply be born in the wrong body?

When you buy Lily Maynard’s wonderful collection of books for your child, you are giving them an heirloom to treasure forever. Who knows, it could turn out to be a reminder of the day they started down the glitter path to their very own gender journey: a lifetime of circumvention, artifice, medication and surgery.

Lily Maynard has the heart of a bisexual polyamorous gender-fluid rainbow sparkle unicorn, despite having been married monogamously to the same man for the past twenty years.  She has three children. The eldest used to identify as transgender.  Lily spends far too much time on Twitter. You can follow her @lilylilymaynard

  1. I had to laugh. Nicely done.

Of course, if we avoided gender specific language, well gender specific anything, life might be easier. But. Oh. no. I have spent years fighting for gender neutral language: police officers, firefighters, business person, chair, tradesperson, and then along come these recidivists.

    • Yes. And I think we should refer to anyone who is trans as a “trans person.” No more “transwomen” or “transmen.” Certainly no more MtF or FtM, as trans people don’t change their biological sex from male to female (which is why I don’t object to MtT or FtT).

      • I agree. I am tired of being told that a man who thinks he is a woman, is a woman. Because he likes pink, dresses, make-up, and high heels. This whole agenda is getting boring and exceedingly annoying.

      • I totally agree! We need to stop altering *our* language to support the pretense that someone’s sex can be changed. Even with all of the available physical interventions with hormones and surgery, all that is created is at best a simulation of the opposite sex. But usually, the simulation is not that great. It seems to me, when I encounter trans people, that the original birth sex is remarkably robust. Even watching You Tube videos with the sound off, you can see the mannerisms of the sex they were born.

And the idea that any man who puts on a dress and claims to have always felt like a woman is insulting to any woman, and any rational human being. Why is it that these “always felt like a woman” types always seem to dress like porn actresses, when actual women dress in a vast variety of different ways. And why would there be entire businesses around teaching these individuals how to walk, talk, dress, apply makeup – things that women who grew up in our culture don’t need to hire people to learn to do?

  2. It’s like Kafka wrote some messed up Choose Your Own Adventure series where all the endings are bad. 🙂

  3. Let’s Play Gender Clinic! That picture needs to add a cash register. Some pharmaceutical companies are sure making a nice profit on this “born in the wrong body” idea. Bet they aren’t putting those profits towards research on the after-effects.

    Thanks Lily for your creativity.

  4. This is funny, but I’m still in the scared to death stage. My 16 y.o. daughter told me she is trans a few months ago. I’ve been struggling ever since. I could really use your help and guidance. I have an 11 year old son with type one diabetes. The last thing I needed was this drama.

    • This is Bean. I made a WordPress account so my username here will be unreal950. I’m relieved but overwhelmed at this site. I appreciate anyone willing to mentor me through this nightmare. Very grateful. Thank you.

      • Hi Bean,
I am in the exact place. My 14 yearly son just told us 1 month ago and I am so full of worry and anxiety that I can barely stand it. Would love to talk with a parent going through the same thing. Maybe we can exchange numbers if it is allowed on this site.

    • I don’t know if reading my story might help? I know how awful and isolating it can feel. My daughter identified as trans for about 9 months. Our story is here on 4thwave:

      • Lily M, thank you so very much. I’m sure most of us that initially find ourselves here are in shock and dismay. I have no one to turn to with this. No one understands. I had actually read your story when I first found this wonderful place awhile back. I re-read it again as things are starting to organize in my brain since the initial shock has worn off. I was just watching PeachyYoghurt on Youtube thanks to your link. #1. She is hilarious #2. I will definitely try and watch these videos with my daughter in hopes they will eventually help her to understand how she ended up with her trans conclusion. Your approach with Jessie was very aggressive. Quite the opposite advice of others here. I go through streaks where I’m neutral (for my own sake really) and other times when I battle hard. This is my child…….it is up to me to save her from this insanity. Again, I’m very grateful for your response.

  5. Thank you, Lily, for providing a much-needed laugh at this ridiculousness. I hope that one day my daughter will see that she can be any kind of woman she wants and that she doesn’t need hormones and surgeries.

  6. There is one website that has a mother that would be duly amused by these books. The website is ‘Raising my Rainbow’. This woman has raised her son to be one of these Gender Creative children. Her son still likes his penis, according to her.

  7. Very funny. Unfortunately, it’s hard to do effective parody anymore. The real trans propaganda can actually be even more ridiculous!
